WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) voted to pass H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. This America First reconciliation package delivers permanent tax relief, cracks down on fraud and abuse, kicks illegal immigrants off taxpayer-funded benefits, and secures the southern border once and for all.
“Voters sent us to Congress to clean house—cut taxes, secure the border, rebuild our military, and put the federal government back in its box,” said Congressman Harrigan. “This legislation answers that call. It delivers for families, puts America’s warfighters first, and stops the fraud and waste that’s been bleeding taxpayers dry. It's the most consequential conservative bill in decades—and proof that the conservative comeback is here.”
Key Provisions of the One Big Beautiful Bill:
- The Largest Tax Cut in American History: Permanently cuts income taxes for working families, eliminates taxes on tips and overtime, and slashes taxes on Social Security benefits. Families will see an average $5,000 boost to their take-home pay.
- In North Carolina’s 10th District, this means:
- 500,570 taxpayers will be protected from a 27% tax hike.
- 92,450 families will keep their full Child Tax Credit.
- 46,040 small businesses will avoid a crushing 43.4% tax rate.
- In North Carolina’s 10th District, this means:
- Border Security and Enforcement: Fully funds 701 miles of new border wall, hires 18,000 new ICE, Customs, and Border Patrol agents, and mandates one million annual removals of illegal immigrants.
- Ending Radical Ideology in Government Programs: Bans taxpayer-funded gender transition procedures for minors and eliminates funding for woke climate slush funds and bureaucratic overreach.
- Restoring American Energy Dominance: Unleashes domestic production, repeals Biden’s green energy giveaways, and strengthens rural and working-class economies.
- Medicaid Reforms and Savings: Removes at least 1.4 million illegal immigrants from Medicaid rolls, protecting access for eligible Americans and ending rampant fraud and abuse.
The bill also modernizes air traffic control systems, expands investment in military readiness, and delivers critical regulatory relief to farmers, manufacturers, and small businesses.
Congressman Harrigan is calling on the Senate to move quickly and deliver this once-in-a-generation win for the American people.
