WASHINGTON, D.C.—One of North Carolina’s newest congressmen is filing his first bill.

U.S. Rep. Pat Harrigan, R-District 10, filed the AMERICANS Act bill, which would offer service members who were fired for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine their jobs back, as well as back pay.

Harrigan said more than 8,400 troops were impacted.

The Green Beret veteran says if someone doesn’t want to rejoin the service, their discharge will be changed to honorable so their benefits can be restored.

The AMERICANS acronym is short for “Allowing Military Exemptions, Recognizing Individual Concerns About New Shots Act of 2025.”
