WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congressman Pat Harrigan (R-NC), a combat-decorated Green Beret, defense entrepreneur, and nuclear engineer representing North Carolina’s 10th District, has been appointed to the Subcommittee on Energy and the Subcommittee on Investigations and Oversight within the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology.

“American leadership in science and technology isn’t optional—it’s essential to our national security, economy, and future,” said Congressman Harrigan. “From energy independence to space exploration to cutting-edge research, these subcommittees shape policies that determine whether we lead or fall behind. I’ll fight to ensure we invest in real innovation, hold federal agencies accountable, and keep America ahead of our adversaries.”

The Subcommittee on Energy oversees research and development on nuclear energy, emerging technologies, and the nation’s energy infrastructure, playing a crucial role in advancing domestic energy independence and strengthening national security. The Subcommittee on Investigations and Oversight is responsible for holding federal agencies accountable, ensuring transparency in taxpayer-funded research, and preventing waste, fraud, and abuse across NASA, the National Science Foundation, and the Department of Energy.

With a background in nuclear engineering and the defense industry, Congressman Harrigan brings a mission-focused approach to advancing American energy independence, innovation, and accountability in Washington.
