WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) released the following statement on the Army Transformation Initiative (ATI):

"This is what real leadership looks like. President Trump, Secretary Hegseth, Secretary Driscoll, and General George have done what no previous military leadership has been willing to do: cut the fat.

The Army Transformation Initiative is a long-overdue effort to eliminate legacy systems, outdated force structures, and inefficient contracting mechanisms that have held our military back. These investments did not help us win the last 30 years of war, and they will not help us deter or defeat China.

ATI takes the savings from these cuts and reinvests them into the warfighting technologies our troops need to win. That means next-generation weapons, unmanned systems, stronger air defenses, and real readiness on a modern battlefield.

This is sound policy driving smart budgeting. It puts our soldiers first, not special interests. ATI is the example every service branch should follow, and I will do everything I can to make sure it is implemented without delay."
