Congressman Pat Harrigan Secures $20 Million Authorization for Mooresville Water Infrastructure

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) voted for H.R. 9497, the Water Resources Development Act of 2026, bipartisan legislation that includes a major win he secured for Mooresville, increasing the city’s federal authorization for water and wastewater infrastructure from $4 million to $20 million.

“Mooresville is one of the fastest-growing communities in our region, and I worked to make sure this bill reflects what that growth actually requires,” said Congressman Harrigan. “Increasing Mooresville’s authorization from $4 million to $20 million gives our community significantly more capacity to pursue the water and wastewater infrastructure families and businesses will depend on for decades. This is exactly the kind of work I came to Congress to do, taking the needs I hear about at home and turning them into results in Washington.”

Beyond Mooresville, the Water Resources Development Act authorizes and improves U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects and programs across the country, covering water and wastewater infrastructure, flood risk management, ports and harbors, inland waterways, dam safety, and other critical water resources needs. The legislation also includes reforms aimed at speeding project delivery, improving contracting and permitting processes, and making it easier for local communities to navigate and access Army Corps programs.

Having passed the House, the Water Resources Development Act of 2026 now heads to the Senate for consideration.
