WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) voted to pass H.J. Res. 89, a resolution to block the Biden Environmental Protection Agency’s waiver allowing California to impose extreme new low-NOx emissions mandates on trucks and heavy-duty engines.
"California’s reckless mandates would drive up costs for every American, cripple supply chains, and crush small businesses already stretched to the limit. This resolution is about protecting our economy, defending common sense, and stopping coastal elites from dictating how the rest of America lives and works," said Congressman Harrigan.
H.J. Res. 89 nullifies an EPA decision granting California a special waiver to impose aggressive emissions rules that far exceed federal standards. Without congressional action, these mandates would drive up costs for truckers, crush small businesses, and disrupt the reliability of America’s supply chains.
Congressman Harrigan remains committed to standing with American workers, fighting back against regulatory overreach, and ensuring Washington works for the people who keep our economy strong. He urges the Senate to swiftly approve this resolution and protect the future of American trucking.
