WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) voted to pass H. Res. 516, a resolution condemning the violent riots that broke out in Los Angeles following lawful federal immigration enforcement actions.

When you torch businesses, assault and attack police with fireworks, and shut down care for our veterans, you forfeit any claim to peaceful protest,” said Congressman Harrigan. “This chaos didn’t erupt on its own. It was fueled by weak radical leadership, dangerous rhetoric, and a complete failure to enforce the law by far left Democrats.”

The resolution condemns the violence committed against law enforcement, the destruction of property, and the closure of essential services including VA clinics and federal offices. It also calls out local and state leaders for failing to restore order, and highlights the bravery of law enforcement officers who stepped in to protect the public.

Congressman Harrigan is urging lawmakers at every level to stand with law enforcement, reject violent extremism, and never let political ideology excuse chaos in the streets.
