WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) voted to pass H.R. 26, the Protecting American Energy Production Act, ensuring that American energy remains in American hands. This legislation prevents the president from unilaterally banning hydraulic fracturing (fracking), safeguarding the United States’ energy independence and economic strength.

"Energy security is national security. Shutting down American energy doesn’t just kill jobs—it makes us dependent on foreign adversaries who want to see us fail," said Congressman Harrigan. "Radical environmentalists want to gut domestic energy production and hand control to China and OPEC. This bill ensures we keep the lights on, costs low, and jobs here at home."

Fracking accounts for two-thirds of U.S. natural gas and half of domestic oil production, keeping energy affordable for American families. Despite this, liberal politicians continue pushing anti-energy policies that drive up costs. A 2016 EPA study found no widespread impact on drinking water, debunking one of the left’s favorite myths.

Congressman Harrigan is committed to lowering costs, creating jobs, and securing America’s energy future. He urges the Senate to act and stop the left’s reckless war on domestic energy.
